    Paul F. IAMS founded EUKANUBA

    The company history of EUKANUBA starts in 1969 when Paul F. Iams, the founder of IAMS food company, introduced EUKANUBA as an additional brand for supreme dog nutrition.

  • 1980

    Introducing puppy food

    EUKANUBA launched its life-stage nutrition concept with the introduction of puppy food.

  • 1990

    Expansion of life-stage nutrition

    Expansion of life-stage nutrition with the introduction of a natural lamb & rice formula for puppies, adults, and seniors.

  • 1999

    Procter & Gamble acquisition

    IAMS, along with the EUKANUBA brand, was acquired by Procter & Gamble.

  • 2000

    Advanced nutrition

    Advancements in nutrition included the addition of DentaDefense in adult diets to help reduce tartar buildup, and the introduction of Omega-3 DHA in puppy diets for cognitive development.

  • 2010

    Included prebiotic FOS

    EUKANUBA incorporated prebiotic FOS across all recipes to support healthy digestion.

  • 2014

    Spectrum Brands takes over

    P&G exited the pet food market, selling EUKANUBA’s European division to Spectrum Brands, which continues to own the brand today.

    Improved formula

    Launch of an improved EUKANUBA formula featuring fresh chicken and patented hexagonal kibble for enhanced nutrition.

    Relaunch

    A complete relaunch of the EUKANUBA range, introducing a unified brand look and feel.

ASKED QUESTIONS

When feeding for the first time, gradually introduce EUKANUBA into your dog’s diet over a period of 4 days. Your dog may eat more or less of the recommended amount depending on age, temperament, and activity level. 

To maintain quality, store EUKANUBA pet food in a cool (no more than 25 °C), dry place—ideally in an airtight container, protected from sunlight and out of reach of children, pets, and other animals. 
Please keep a minimum distance of 5 meters from any pesticides or fertilizers. 
For 800 g and 3 kg bags, ensure the zip lock is fully sealed. For larger bags (7.5 kg, 12 kg, and 15 kg), always make sure the top slider is securely closed. 

Proteins are a major component of most organ systems, such as muscles, skin, and hair. They also include vital substances like enzymes, antibodies, and the oxygen-carrying pigment hemoglobin. Proteins are made up of amino acids, which are not only essential for building the body’s own proteins but also play important roles—individually or in smaller combinations—in various metabolic processes.

Some amino acids can be produced by the body in sufficient amounts, while others must be obtained through the diet. These are known as essential amino acids, and the specific requirements can vary between animal species.

For dogs, it is crucial that the protein in their food—along with its amino acid profile—matches their nutritional needs. High-quality animal-based protein sources are particularly well suited for this. That’s why EUKANUBA recipes are not only tailored to meet the individual protein requirements of dogs, but also contain high-quality animal protein sources such as chicken, turkey, lamb, or salmon. EUKANUBA does not use concentrated plant protein sources. 

All EUKANUBA foods are produced in the Netherlands. Our dry food is exclusively made in a dedicated facility in Coevorden, near the German border. Covering the area of about 30 football fields, the site uses state-of-the-art technology to produce over 60 unique formulas. A team of passionate experts in pet nutrition, microbiology, biology, and food safety ensures that every meal meets the highest standards of quality and taste. Our new EUKANUBA dog cans are manufactured in a modern high-quality facility, also located in the Netherlands.
